OUR HISTORY & WHAT WE DO
Volunteers Network of Kenya (VONEK) is a volunteer driven organization established in Kenya in 2022 and officially registered in January, 2023. The organization aims at engaging volunteers, especially young people, in service, volunteering and civic action to tackle their communities and neighbourhoods pressing challenges, while encouraging and mobilizing all Kenyans to volunteer and play a role in the transformation they want to see in their communities and neighbourhoods. This is because at VONEK we believe that there exists boundless potential from our young people to drive the much needed transformation.
VONEK therefore, works with the volunteers and their communities to create in them an understanding of Community engagement, helping communities identify their challenges and prioritizing those that need immediate redress. To this extent we focus on building the capacity of the volunteers to immerse themselves within the communities and understand the communities, therefore, animate their neighbourhoods and communities to take action in a manner that contributes to the envisaged transformation. The organization mentors the volunteers to be able to be good community animators and facilitators of change and transformation and supports the initiatives that the communities identify and prioritize for action.
Our Volunteers come from diverse backgrounds including Individuals, University Clubs, Professional networks, Youth Groups, Community Health Volunteers, Women Groups and Community Based Organizations.

- Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Response
- Good Governance, Rule of Law and Democracy
- Conflict Resolution and Peace building
- Social Entrepreneurship
- Food Security, Livelihoods and Quality Education

MISSION, VISION & CORE VALUES
The Volunteers Network of Kenya (VONEK) is a service opportunity organization for motivated changemakers willing to immerse themselves at the service of underserved and at the margin communities in Kenya working side by side with local leaders, fellow volunteers and the communities to transform otherwise pressing challenges of our generation.
VONEK wishes to build its next generation of patriots by engaging its young people in college and young professionals in community service that helps to solve problems in their communities in the lenses of the Sustainable Development Goals. They will also be equipped with skills for their future careers.
We transform the communities we work with by enabling volunteers to build capacities for the communities to empower themselves to be resilient. At the heart of our work is enabling communities to Build back better and attain the Sustainable Development Goals at their most basic level.
VONEK is inspired by the ‘UBUNTU’ African philosophy. We believe we are stronger together than our own. We harness the power of our greatest asset- The People of Kenya to pull together to champion for much needed socio-economic, cultural and civil rights transformation needed for communities in the margins.
